In general, I prefer email to text, both because I spend more time in front of a computer than on my phone and because I don’t like typing on my phone. However, I know many people would rather receive a message by text. There is a good solution for this because most cell phone providers allow you to send texts by email.
For example, with Verizon, you just email your text to “phone number”@vtext.com. For example, you can send a text to 713-555-1212 by simply emailing the text to 7135551212@vtext.com. (A quick Google search will show you how to do this with other providers.)
This is also useful for texting info to myself, which I do when it’s something I specifically want to review later on my phone (or if I think I will want to forward it later on to someone else from my phone).
