On of my main mantras is “a place for everything and everything in its place,” which generally means keeping like things together. This can be problematic with very tiny items, however. The solution I use is this: I keep all small items in one (fairly small) storage bin, even though they are all unrelated. For example, in my closet I keep a small storage box holding such disparate items as collar stays and extenders, tire valve stems, air pump needles, a jeweler’s loupe, shoe laces, empty key rings, and various small batteries.
