If you find yourself doing the same thing over and over, ask yourself:

Do you enjoy the repetition?

If not, is repetition simply unavoidable?

If not, find a way to avoid the repetition or lessen its impact.

For example, I eat dinner every day, but I tend to enjoy that and it’s pretty unavoidable.

On the other hand, my commute is fairly long but it’s not 100% unavoidable: thus, I have arranged my home office to be a duplicate of my work office and can work at home fairly often. At the same time, I listen to books during my drive, thus making it a productive/enjoyable time.

A smaller example: I tend to get thirsty in the middle of the night. In the past, I would just go downstairs when I woke up thirsty and get something to drink, which really interrupted my sleep. Moreover, I had this problem even though I always brought a drink to bed at night. However, I would usually finish that drink by the time I feel asleep, and so when I woke up later, there was nothing left . The solution then was to bring two drinks to bed (e.g., two glasses of water or, in my case, two Coke Zeros), thus avoiding the interruption of getting another drink in the middle of the night.
